Vibration monitoring as a method for assessing the pile driving-induced impact in restrained urban conditions

Vibration can cause damage to the building structure, reducing its operational reliability: stability, impairing load-bearing capacity of slabs and also causing cracks. To prevent above causes, vibration loads acting both on structure as a whole parts should be monitored. This paper discusses results measurement caused by pile driving in soil an adjacent housing complex. The aim study was determine minimum permissible distance from pile-driving site at which neighbouring buildings would remain unaffected. For measurements, control points installed unequal distances location directly were used allow observation pattern changes. It is preferable select measuring assess impact structure. recommended that are side facing source vibration. actual vibrations terms speed, amplitude, acceleration frequency recorded during process. On basis resulting characteristics, damping (absorption) coefficients determined maximum then calculated. Measurements carried out order compare obtained with specified limit values.
